Birthday Weekend

Last weekend was filled with birthday fun. On Saturday there was a party for Sophie, our niece on my side of the family. We went to her house where all the kids played and had a blast. I don't think I saw Matt once unless I checked on him. Then we went to Chuck E. Cheese for some more games. It was busy, but a lot of fun.
Then on Sunday my brothers and their families came over for cake and ice cream for our mom. Matt and I got up early Sunday morning (we actually get up early every morning) and baked a cake for Grandmama. He was a big help and enjoyed the tasting benefits of being a cook. It was a yummy cake and I am afraid Matt and I only made enough for everyone to have one piece. I think I owe some people seconds some time.
After all the cake and ice cream and of course presents we played a game. Well some did anyway. Bill brought over a game that shocks the last person to push their button. It does hurt, but is very funny to watch.

Saturday-
Matt playing his first game of Air Hockey

He had a hard time keeping it
out of his own goal.
Darn It!

Dancing with cousin Grace

Then dancing with the birthday girl
Matt is a dancing fool

Shooting some Hoops
or if you heard Matt say it
"Shoot n Poops"

Skee Ball was a little hard
He just wanted to throw the ball
We might try again when it isn't so crowded.

Sunday-

Harry enjoying the cake and ice cream

This is the game and it looks like
Chuck was the one to get shocked.
As you can see Joe is laughing at him.

King Tut

Jack and Lucy so thoughtfully picked out this swim float for Matt. As you can see Matt did NOT want to wait for a swimming opportunity, and wanted to were it now. It was more like this, "Mom, how about I wear this? I can probably wear this. Pleeease?" Just then the doorbell rang. It was Grandmama and the rest is in the photographs. (I was about to let him wear it when the doorbell rang though, but of course Grandmama ends up being the hero.) I guess it's ok to let her have the title every once in a while.

Matt was the one who decided to wear the arm floaty on his head, and dad told him he looked like King Tut. Since dad said that all Matt says is, "I'm King Tut. Look Mom, I'm being King Tut." It is very cute.

Thank you Jack and Lucy for thinking of Matt. He loves it! Also thank you to Kristy and Bill for getting it for him.

A Splish-Splash Party

Two weekends ago there was a party for our nephew Christian (CJ). We went over to eat, have cupcakes with worms, which Matt loved to tell me he ate a worm, and ice cream. After all the slowpoke adults got done eating all the yummies it was time to go to the splash park. Matt was ready and just waiting for the splash park the moment he arrived at Grandma Janice and Grandpa Les' house. He had so much fun and it was great to watch him really get in there because outings to splash parks with Matt have not always been the most successful. I know it is hard to believe this but Matt is a delicate sensitive guy when he wants to be and water and him did not mix there for awhile. By the pictures though you can see he has gotten over it and no longer feels like he is made of sugar.

Ice Cream Face
Got to have a full tummy before playing.

This picture is worth clicking on to
make it full size. The water and Matt's
face look a lot more defined.

I wonder if synchronized splash park play
could be a new summer olympic sport?

What's going to happen?

Oh yeah! It squirts water out
(click on this picture to make it bigger too)

AJ had to get in there and fire
the water cannon at some kids.

Mr. Incredible

Matt's new favorite movie is The Incredibles. I guess because it is an older movie there is not much out there in the way of clothing. We decided to improvise a little. It was fun seeing what we had in the house to make Matt's wish of being an Incredible come true.
That is his face for the bad guys

His Incredible stance

Super Happy Face

He gets down into this stance
and then in his deepest voice
says, "I'm Mr. Incredible."
It is all very entertaining

July Birthdays in August

July is a crazy month for birthdays in my family. On my side alone there are four of us that have July birthdays. Add AJ's side to the mix and there are 4 more. Because it is such a busy month my Mom threw all of us "kids" a party the first weekend in August. She made 4 different cakes and decorated them all. She also brought out a huge water slide that was the hit of the party!

This is my cake. Aren't moms the best!
She knows just what I like strawberry cake,
girly pink icing, and the Smurfs. Thanks Mom!
It was perfect!

AJ bringing his work with him and giving
Jack a quick exam.

The Slide

Bill and AJ figuring the slide out?
or
Just being silly as usual?
You be the judge

Matt waiting for people to come down the slide.
This was his spot. He did not care
for actually sliding down, but enjoyed
playing in the water between sliders.

Harry is super excited.
He was the daredevil of all the
cousins. He went flying and it was
great fun to watch!

Jack got to be first down.
He made sure it was safe for all the
others to follow.

Lucy waiting her turn to go down second

AJ was waiting though to squirt all who came down the slide.

Matt's favorite part was jumping in the
slide between sliders.

This slide was huge!

Great party Grandmama! Thanks for all the fun and making this birthday very special. Love you lots and lots! I am ready to go down the slide again myself.

Our Kitties

This post is purely about our cats. AJ and I are getting sick and tired of all the stinking cat hair around the house so we thought that shaving them would be a good idea. We will see.

Here is our sweet little Starsky
long hair and fluffy before, and now...

It might be hard to tell, but she is sporting the boots.
They left her feet alone when shaving.

Now Tobi is a little harder to tell.
Here is the before, and now...

I think you can really tell around her neck.
She is wearing a collar in the before pic too
you just can't see it because of the fur.

Poor kitties. Hope you don't hate us and that we didn't traumatize you forever. You both look very cute and man are you both so very soft. It is way more fun to cuddle now.

Mmmmm Cereal & Ready for My Close-Up

Matt was eating cereal a while back and I saw him drinking his milk like a big guy. I guess He has done this before and AJ did not share it with me. So I thought this was his first time and freaked out and took pictures. AJ just laughed at me and told me he has been doing this for some time. I have done to this to AJ on many occasion since he is usually at work/school when Matt is doing new things, and I think he really enjoyed turning the tables.

Ready For My Close-Up

Matt found my winter clothes and decided to try them on. He then strutted around the house like a movie star. He checked himself out in the mirror for awhile and was acting very important. He then decided he was a lion.
